Abaqus SRU Token Calculator

Welcome to the Device Analytics Abaqus SRU Token Calculator. With Dassault Systèmes’ transition to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and the Unified Licensing Model (ULM), compute scaling for multi-core simulations has changed. Whether you are running jobs on-premise or utilizing cloud-based SRU-OCs, use the calculator below to determine the exact number of Standard Reservation Units (SRUs) required for your Abaqus solvers.

Still using standalone Abaqus? If you are using traditional Extended Tokens (QXT) for standalone SIMULIA installations, please use our Abaqus QXT Token Calculator

How Do Abaqus SRUs Scale?

If your engineering team is migrating from a traditional standalone SIMULIA installation to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, your token math will look different.

While a single legacy QXT token holds more “compute weight” for raw Abaqus solving, SRUs offer unmatched flexibility. Instead of being locked strictly to the legacy SIMULIA portfolio, SRUs act as a universal currency. Your SRU token pool can be shared dynamically across dozens of different 3DEXPERIENCE engineering, design, and simulation roles, allowing your team to maximize software utilization.

The number of SRU tokens required to run Abaqus on 1 or 2 CPUs (cores) is a flat 15 SRUs. For 3 or more cores, the token cost scales logarithmically and is provided by the formula: ROUND(14.427 × ln(N) + 5).

Enter the number of desired cores in the form below, and the required number of SRUs will be returned:

Beyond Abaqus: Multi-Physics Solvers

A major advantage of the Unified Licensing Model is that SRUs are not restricted exclusively to Abaqus. Your SRU pool can be utilized to run a variety of 3DEXPERIENCE simulation roles and solvers. Alongside the traditional SIMULIA portfolio (Abaqus, fe-safe, Isight, and Tosca), SRUs can be used for:

  • CST Studio Suite for electromagnetics
  • PowerFlow and XFlow for computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Simpack for multibody simulation

Abaqus & CST Tokens for GPUs (On-Premise)

If you are utilizing GPUs for your on-premise Abaqus or CST solves, the token consumption differs from legacy models. Under the ULM, you must add 5 SRUs for 1 GPU, and an additional 5 SRUs for every doubling of your GPU count.

For example:

  • 1 GPU = Add 5 SRUs
  • 2 GPUs = Add 10 SRUs
  • 4 GPUs = Add 15 SRUs
