SIMULIA Portfolio Software Options

The SIMULIA software portfolio can be configured depending on the needs and usage patterns within an organization.  The table below highlights the various licensing configurations available followed by guidelines which may help in selecting the right package.  All configurations are networked.

Portfolio Package Base Tokens Additional Tokens CAE License Scheme CAE Summary
Abaqus Portfolio Pack QPP 5 QPT Token Solver & CAE are token based
Abaqus/CAE Analysis Pack QAP 5 QAT Standalone QAE Only solver is token based
Abaqus Extended Tokens QXT 1 QXT Standalone QAX Only solver is token based

Abaqus Portfolio Pack (QPP)

The QPP configuration is highly flexible in that both CAE and the solvers utilize a common token licensing scheme. The basic Portfolio Pack includes 5 tokens. CAE requires 4 tokens while the solver will utilize 5 tokens for the first CPU core. With the basic configuration, CAE and the solver cannot be running simultaneously without additional tokens (QPT). The Standard, Explicit and CFD solvers are included in the Portfolio Pack.

When to consider QPP:

  • Additional tokens are available to augment the basic Portfolio Pack. The added tokens can be directed towards additional CAE users or more cores for greater simulation throughput. See the Abaqus Token Calculator.
  • CAE is not always required while the solver is running.
  • Generally favored by small to mid-size companies.

Abaqus Analysis Pack (QAP)

The QAP configuration includes one sharable (networked) CAE license while the solvers utilize the token licensing scheme. Each solver will utilize 5 tokens for the first CPU core. Like the QPP configuration, the Standard, Explicit and CFD solvers are included.

When to consider QAP:

  • If running CAE concurrently with the solver is desirable.
  • A high number of tokens utilized for HPC may be more cost effective.
  • Generally favored by larger user bases or enterprises.

Abaqus Extended Tokens (QXT)

The Abaqus Extended Token configuration is similar to the Abaqus Analysis Pack (QAP) in that the solvers utilize the token licensing scheme while the interface programs, including CAE, are based on standalone networked licenses. The QXT package allows access to other complementary programs including fe-safe, iSight, TOSCA and others. Unlike QPP and QAP, where the base pack contains 5 tokens, the QXT is a single token. Token requirements for each program described in the QPP and QAP remain the same.

When to consider QXT:

  • Access to the additional complementary technologies is needed (fe-safe, iSight, TOSCA, etc.).
